Client: Space Studio/ JM Homes Ltd
We were appointed to carry out landscape master planning and detailed design for a residential development on an infill brownfield site, comprising 9 affordable homes on the edge of Rugeley town centre, in Staffordshire. The client was seeking to obtain Full Planning Permission.
The site is currently part of a carpark for a public house (The Prince of Wales, Rugeley). It is bound by a mix of residential properties and a community centre.
One of the principle aims of the design on this very constrained site was to blend the new housing with its surroundings and preserve the setting of the adjoining Conservation Area. To achieve this, we assisted with the layout to maximise the preservation and protection of existing mature trees, and proposed the planting of large sized, tree species for an instant effect. These measures were agreed during extensive consultation with the Local Planning Authority Tree Officer, Conservation Officer and Landscape officer.
- A Landscape Master plan
- Detailed landscape proposals comprising; Planting plan, hard landscape details, NBS Landscape Specification, Tree Protection Plan based on an Arboricultural Assessment in accordance with BS5837:2005, Tree Pit & Root Barrier Detail
The design was completed in accordance with the client’s aspirations for a high quality amenity landscape.
Moore Environment completed the work on time and to budget. The scheme fulfilled planning conditions and received full planning consent.
