Client: Nichol Thomas / Midland Heart
Moore Environment were commissioned by Nichol Thomas architects to develop a Landscape Strategy, Master Plan and hard and soft landscape design proposals for a new extra care home to cater for 140 residents on an old school site in Cradley Heath, on behalf of Midland Heart. We also procured and managed an arboriculural impact assessment and method statement using one of our selected partners.
Survey and Analysis Report
The report contained full analysis of constraints and development opportunities. Liaison with the arborist, ecologist and design team was required to ensure the analysis was taken into account in the emerging site layout.
Landscape Master Plan
The design objective is to provide attractive and safe environments for the residents, staff and visitors, maximise retention of existing trees and value for nature conservation. All spaces and circulation routes were designed in accordance with DDA standards to allow inclusive access and incorporated ‘Secure by Design’ principles. A swale and wetland area supports sustainable drainage for the site and a ‘nature walk’ is provided adjacent to existing woodland bordering the site. Two courtyards provide amenity for the residents .
